Here is a chart for men and women that gives BMI for various heights and weights. To use the chart, find your height in the left-hand column labeled Height. Move across to your body weight. The number at the top of the column is the BMI for your height and weight. Overweight is defined as a BMI of 25 to 29.9; obesity is defined as a BMI equal to or greater than 30.

What Does Your BMI Mean?

Normal weight18.5–24.9Good for you!
Try not to gain weight.
Overweight25–29.9Do not gain any weight, especially if your waist measurement is high. You need to lose weight if you have two or more risk factors for heart disease.
Obese30 or greaterYou need to lose weight. Lose weight slowly—about 1/2 pound to 2 pounds a week. See your doctor or a registered dietitian if you need help.
